Description

Borrego is seeking a Development Engineering Manager to join our team in Latham, NY. In this role, you will have direct management of all design engineering functions within the Development Company at Borrego. We offer a hybrid work environment, allowing you to work remotely 2-3 days a week and from the office 2-3 days a week. Improve and maintain all engineering processes, approaches, and personnel within the development business
Close coordination with the regional leads to align as a team with a shared responsibility for developing a strategy and execution plan that results in the successful development of projects across the United States
Manage the technical review, risk evaluation, and value engineering assessments for projects under development
Manage the design, permitting, and value engineering/optimization efforts for projects in both the entitlement and design phases
Manage, train and develop a team of development engineers to develop interconnection applications, preliminary designs, performance models, cost estimates, and both permitting and bid sets of plans
Ability to Outsource Design work and or self perform to provide the scalability to meet our demand
Identify and diligence emerging technologies to continuously optimize our valuations
Build and maintain a company culture of passion, performance and accountability that attracts, retains and motivates the best qualified employees
Work with senior management to improve process, efficiency and achieve operational excellence in individual functional areas, utility-scale development business, and for the company overall
Assist in developing key performance indicators to monitor and control the utility-scale business performance. Ensure that all business KPIs that are impacted by engineering efforts are understood and tracked on a recurring basis
Work with the senior management team to facilitate company expansion into new geographic regions including selecting new facilities, hiring and training regional managers, engineering personnel, 3rd party support, process adjustment/improvement, team training, etc.
Manage a small number of active projects as needed to improve team bandwidth and/or to vet new regions or technologies prior to incorporating those into standard processes and tools
Review of cost estimates, estimating tools and processes to provide feedback to the tool administration team

 

Requirements:

5+ years experience in engineering and technology fields
3+ years experience in engineering management with direct supervision of multi-disciplinary engineers
Experience managing technical solutions for complex grid interconnections. Experience must include successful coordination and management of utility and ISO counterparties from design phase through construction and permission-to-operate (PTO)
High level of critical problem-solving skills
Experience with AutoCAD, PVSyst, Excel, MSProject or similar project management tool
Minimum Education Requirements: Bachelor’s of Science, Engineering
