Success Story Powered By Central NY MEP Center: TDO
Liverpool, New York based XTO, Inc. has been in business for thirty years in Central New York. They have a strong history as a partner to manufacturers providing high quality fabricating and die cutting of gaskets and gasket materials. A leader in the industry, they deliver fifty million parts per year to industry recognized manufacturers! Their business spans 40 states and 17 countries serviced from their 67,000 square foot production facilities in Liverpool.
In today’s day and age of cyber crime, XTO recognized the need to ensure all of their data, as well as their customers’ proprietary information is kept secure. Leveraging the direction of new NIST Publication 800-171 requiring the protection of controlled unclassified information in non-federal information systems and organizations, XTO embarked on a gap assessment by turning to not-for-profit consulting and training organization TDO, part of the New York Manufacturing Extension Partnership and the MEP National Network™, to help explore funding assistance opportunities and to secure a resource to support XTO’s Cyber Security remediation needs. TDO immediately reached out to state-wide MEP center, Fuzehub, and confirmed eligibility for the NY MEP Cyber Security Grant for manufacturers and then secured a third-party Cyber Security service provider to assist with the assessment and remediation of the 800-171 guidelines.
XTO, Inc. was awarded the NY MEP Cyber Security Grant and as a result was able to affordably complete the needed NIST 800-171 remediations. XTO, Inc. now has much greater confidence in the security of their intellectual property and processes which will improve their marketability and enable them to further grow their business.
Results of the engagement included:
- 75 created or retained jobs
- Improved compliance to the NIST 800-171 Standard
