Success Story Powered by New York MEP Regional Center MTRC (Manufacturing and Resource Technology Consortium)

Mechanismic Inc. is a five-employee company based in Long Island, New York with an innovative new product called SnappyXO Design. Its products are currently being used by informal STEM learning centers, such as museums, libraries, and robotics competitions. Although the company had received Phase 1 funding to research and develop the product, they still needed access to resources to build the hardware for the product. With the help of MTRC, Mechanismic was able to prepare for phase 2 of the product and win funding that would allow it to continue development and distribution.

If there is one organization after NSF, that has helped us tremendously with our efforts, that would be the MTRC program at Stony Brook University. Without MTRC’s support, our company would not have been able to meet our goals to bring a state-of-the-art robotics product to the market. I thank Dr. Imin Kao and Cynthia Colón from the MTRC program profusely for their kind support and dedication.

— Anurag Purwar, PhD, CEO and Co-Founder
Results of the engagement included:
  •  $1M STTR Phase 2 award from the NSF
  • Winning the FuzeHub commercialization award
  • An avenue to test their product in a sponsored summer robotics camp
