Cable Manufacturer Achieves Cybersecurity Compliance through NY MEP Expertise

Data Security credited with retained jobs.

The Monroe Cable Company, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of wire and cable in New York State.  The company supplies the government organizations such as the New York City Transit Authority, the New York City Fire Department, the military, and Department of Defense (DoD) in addition to many commercial industries.  With a large quantity of its clients being government organizations and high profile industries, compliance to cyber security guidelines was vital to retaining their business.

Knowing the best path to compliance was through preventive measures, Monroe Cable Company sought out the expert help of the Manufacturing & Technology Enterprise Center (MTEC), part of the New York Manufacturing Extension Partnership and the MEP National NetworkTM.   MTEC enlisted experts David Tooker and Paul LaPorte to conduct an in-depth assessment of Monroe Cable Company’s data operations and practices.  Subsequent to the multi-part assessment they conducted, policies and procedures were written to bring The Monroe Cable Company into compliance with the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplements (DFARS).

Following remediation activities, another assessment was performed to confirm their compliance resulting in a letter of compliance through the Advanced Institute for Manufacturing.  Monroe Cable Company credits their seven-thousand dollar investment in becoming a cyber-security compliant organization with their ability to retain their high profile clients’ business and allowing the creation or retention of over 100 positions.
